This workshop was developed in collaboration with Teuntje van Grinsven
for the organization HipHop In Je Smoel.
The workshop begins with a street art walk through the south side of the city, where we explore
the following questions in response to the artworks: What do the students think of them?
What messages do they see? And how do these pieces affect the public space?
Inspired by what they’ve seen, the students then create their own small-scale artwork. How can a
small piece of art transform its surroundings? Will it surprise, provoke, or raise questions for the viewer? In this way, students are introduced to street art and experiment with a variety of materials.
